Riverbed to Showcase Award-Winning WAN Optimization Solutions at Interop New York 2008

Will Educate Attendees on Solutions for Enterprise Application Performance for Geographically Dispersed Workforces

San Francisco, CA, September 8, 2008 – Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced its participation at Interop New York 2008 taking place at Javits Convention Center in New York between September 15 – 19, 2008. At the event, Riverbed® will participate in panel discussions, as well as showcase its award-winning Steelhead® appliances and its Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) at booth #737.

Organizations are continuing to expand geographically and, as a result, manage significant business operations outside of headquarters. Riverbed Steelhead appliances provide value to organizations that share data and collaborate between distributed offices by offering significant performance improvements for a broad range of applications that are important to their businesses. To further address the ever-changing environment, Riverbed introduced the RSP, an extensible data services platform that enables the delivery of virtualized edge services without the need to deploy additional physical servers at remote or branch offices. The RSP allows customers to deploy best-of-breed services from a number of vendors on Steelhead appliances in a self-contained partition to minimize the hardware infrastructure footprint at the branch office.

“Organizations are struggling to find the balance between providing branch offices with an effective IT infrastructure and reducing the operational and IT costs associated with supporting these needs,” said Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances. “Our goal at Interop is to educate attendees on the Riverbed solution as enterprises look to develop a more efficient and collaborative work environment for employees in globally dispersed offices.”

In addition to showcasing its award-winning products on the exhibition floor at Interop New York on September 17th (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and September 18th (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.), Riverbed representatives will participate in several panel discussions that address the growing concerns facing enterprises as they expand geographically - including application acceleration over the WAN and IT infrastructure consolidation in branch offices. Attendees can engage with Riverbed representatives during the following scheduled discussions:

Globalization - From the Global Village to the Global Office Building

Who: Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances
When: Monday, Sept. 15, 11:15 a.m. – 12 noon
Where: Room # 1E06
What: This session will examine globalization and talk about some of the issues and opportunities that are facing highly distributed organizations as a result. There have been real barriers for companies that are trying to operate far-flung offices and research centers around the globe: typically, those offices and sites that are far from headquarters and major data centers have had limited access to corporate applications and data, and to date, the assumption has been that things have to be that way--the farther away employees are, the less access they will have, and the longer it will take to get the critical information they need.

Optimizing the Performance of Enterprise Applications

Who: Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances
When: Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
What: The general buzz in the trade press is that IT organizations should optimize the performance of their company’s key enterprise applications. While it is difficult to disagree with that statement, it does beg the question of how best to do it. In this session, the speakers will describe the data flow of key enterprise applications from companies such as SAP and Oracle. The speakers will then identify the performance roadblocks associated with those applications and will also identify which optimization techniques improve the performance of these applications and which ones do not.

Optimizing Application Delivery to Branch Offices

Who: Apurva Dave, senior director of product marketing
When: Thursday, Sept. 18, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
What: Many workers currently reside in branch offices and access applications over a relatively low-speed, high-latency WAN. The use of the WAN causes many applications to perform badly. As a result, many vendors have deployed solutions to improve the performance of these applications. From a distance, all of these solutions in this area look similar. However, there are many significant differences between them. This will be a question and answer session that will identify the key differences between the current solutions.
