SAN FRANCISCO — November 3, 2008 — Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced that it has been ranked 10th in the Rising Star category in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 program for Silicon Valley. The Rising Star award is a special designation for fast-growth companies that have been in business a minimum of three years, and is part of the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program. Riverbed® was ranked number ten based on its 930 percent revenue growth during a three year period.
Rising Star rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2005–2007). This year’s Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program is co-presented by Deloitte, Silicon Valley Bank, Korn/Ferry International, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Cornish & Carey Client Solutions, and ABD Insurance and Financial Services – A Wells Fargo Company.
The Riverbed award-winning Steelhead® products enable organizations of all sizes to speed the performance of applications between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers by five to 50 times and in some cases up to 100 times, delivering a performance multiplier to customers’ existing IT infrastructure. Riverbed makes IT consolidation possible without degrading application performance, speeds backup and replication times over the WAN to ensure data integrity and efficiency, and improves staff productivity and collaboration across customers’ value chain. Steelhead products have been deployed in organizations ranging from the world’s largest corporations with offices around the globe to small companies with a couple of sites that are just miles apart.
“The Deloitte Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 Rising Star companies have shown the strength, vision and tenacity to succeed despite a very challenging technology environment,” said Mark Jensen, partner and national director, Venture Capital Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP. “We applaud the successes of Riverbed and acknowledge its place as one of the few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past three years.”
"We’ve come a long way since our successful IPO in 2006," said Jerry Kennelly, president and CEO at Riverbed Technology. “Our innovative technology that improves the performance and efficiency of our customers’ entire IT infrastructure, combined with more than 5,000 customer deployments, has served as the foundation for our financial success. We will continue to deliver products in 2009 and beyond that deliver on our vision of a day when all data can be accessed instantly by anyone from anywhere. Today, in this economic environment, CIOs are under extreme pressure to deliver a cost-effective and agile infrastructure that can perform as well as scale. Our 5,000 customers have already figured it out.”
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program, companies must be incorporated a minimum of three years and have revenues in only three or four years, have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2005 and $5,000,000 in 2007, be headquartered within the San Francisco Bay Area (subsidiaries or divisions are not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and are separately traded), and own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
Rising Star companies are automatically entered in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 Rising Star category. Its Rising Star ranking is based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2005–2007).
