RIVERBED TECHNOLOGY ADDS TWO SILICON VALLEY VETERANS TO CORPORATE EXECUTIVE TEAM

Brett Nissenberg Named as General Counsel; Oracle Corporation's Assistant Controller Lisa Powers Named as Riverbed Corporate Controller

San Francisco — August 5, 2005 — Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in application acceleration on wide area networks, today announced the addition of two senior staff members to the executive team: Brett Nissenberg, as General Counsel and Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs, and Lisa Powers, CPA, as Corporate Controller. The addition of Nissenberg and Powers rounds out Riverbed's senior staff and gives the company additional expertise as it expands operations and builds on its already strong success in the wide-area data services (WDS) market.

"With these new hires, Riverbed has the pieces in place to grow into a world-class organization," said Jerry Kennelly, CEO and president of Riverbed Technology. "Over the last few years we've invested heavily in R&D, creating a best-of-breed product and support organization. At the same time, we've put tremendous effort into building a top-notch sales and marketing team, plus lasting relationships with reseller and OEM channel partners. This strong effort is reflected in our success to date: in just over one year of shipping product, we have thousands of boxes deployed worldwide and our customer base is well past 200. The addition of Brett and Lisa brings to Riverbed real-world expertise in both private and public company operations that will allow us to meet the scaling challenge of our high growth."

Nissenberg comes to Riverbed from Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, LLP, where he counseled venture-backed technology companies and investors regarding financing strategies and in connection with venture financings and recapitalizations. His work included more than 100 venture capital financings and other strategic transactions. In addition, he counseled technology companies and underwriters in public offerings of equity securities and negotiated public-company and private-company mergers and other acquisition transactions.

Prior to joining Riverbed, Powers acted in various capacities for Oracle Corporation (ORCL), culminating in her role as Assistant Controller. In that role, she was responsible for corporate consolidation and analysis of results, finance acquisition integration, SEC reporting, management reporting, and corporate accounting and consolidation policies. Prior to joining Oracle, Powers was a manager at Arthur Andersen, LLP, where she worked in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services Group.

"Brett's broad experience in counseling venture-backed companies as they grow and face a variety of challenges and opportunities will help Riverbed as the company expands operations in the coming months and years," said Randy Gottfried, chief financial officer at Riverbed. "At the same time, Lisa's professional rigueur, coupled with her experience in the day-to-day operations of a large-scale accounting department, make her an invaluable addition to our team."
